The Agartes Epilogues: Short Stories

I‘m releasing a few short stories on The Agartes Epilogues on Wattpad. This is a work in progress, so expect more over the coming weeks.

Some of these, notably Jagged Slate on Blue and The Griffon’s Requiem, are pretty old. I’ve updated them to fit the current lore (yes, I heard myself, and yes, I’m eye-rolling too) of the world, but otherwise, they feature a somewhat-outdated voice of mine.

A lot are backstories that you probably won’t be too interested in unless you’ve read The Agartes Epilogues. However, they were not written from that angle, so even if you’ve never actually read any of the novels, you’ll be fine. Most of these were either false starts, stand-alone novels that never quite worked out, or plain backstory that was cut out to keep the main novels tight.

This also gives you an idea of how I approach writing an epic fantasy. I don’t actually keep notes; instead, most characters are given a back story and life of their own, with enough hints throughout the narrative to “remind” me what they’re up to. It’s an interesting way of approaching storytelling and leaves me just as surprised as my readers.
