I haven’t been posting here as often as I was last year. What gives?
Well, I’ve been juggling getting two manuscripts ready for publication this spring–finding reviewers, working with editors and beta-readers, and now finally onto formatting–while maintaining a 1500-2000 word a day schedule on The Wolf of Oren-yaro. That hasn’t given me a lot of time to write up blog entries lately.
I get into this obsessive phase when I’m editing manuscripts, too. I must’ve already spent over a hundred hours hammering through Sapphire’s Flight alone, even after I thought I had a pretty clean first draft (a first for me–this novel really knew where it needed to go). I’m hoping to have ARCs ready by next week, but I never really know, especially if I find something I feel could be improved by another day or two of writing.
This craft, my God.
I shouldn’t really complain. I do enjoy the writing and the editing–I’ve been doing it for 24 years and because of that have no interesting hobbies to speak of (other than that minor stint breeding gerbils, but that was a long time ago). Holy hell, I think most of my conversations revolve around writing nowadays.
Anyway, I can’t promise much, but I can promise that the books will be out on the announced release dates.
Read the The Agartes Epilogues. It won’t take too much of your time.
